What Ericsson gets wrong in its doom-mongering about Europe's 5G
Europe's biggest 5G kit maker unsurprisingly thinks the world needs more 5G, but Europe does better on connectivity – if not tech – than Ericsson makes out.

LONDON -- Huawei released an industry-first 8-antenna outdoor CPE B3368 at the wireless home broadband (HBB) booth at the Global Mobile Broadband Forum. The CPE demonstrated a peak rate of up to 1 Gbit/s and is the fastest commercial outdoor 4.5G CPE throughout the industry. 8R CPEs implement advanced multiple-antenna technologies to triple spectral efficiency, allowing operators to provide three times more services to users while greatly reducing the cost per line for wireless HBB. With a fiber-like experience rate of 1 Gbit/s, wireless HBB is ushering into a new fiber era.
Huawei benefits from a diverse range of technologies, such as multiple-antenna, multi-carrier, and high-order modulation technologies, to maximize the UE rate and increase the peak rate over the air interface to more than 1 Gbit/s, delivering a fiber-like experience to all end users. Huawei's exclusive 8-antenna reception technology greatly expands the coverage radius for high-rate users. Under the same network conditions, the proportion of high-rate users can be increased by 30%, which effectively improves the monetization capability of wireless broadband.
The B3368 combined with Huawei's advanced massive MIMO base stations implements exclusive performance improvement technologies to achieve three times higher service provisioning capability than other industry solutions and reduces the cost per line by 60%. This allows operators to maximize the value of their networks and provide broadband access services for more households and enterprises without deploying more base stations.
The B3368 adopts intelligent antenna selection. No complex alignment is required during installation, greatly simplifying CPE installation while also making DIY installation possible. This significantly reduces the personnel and costs of service provisioning for operators, which improves deployment efficiency, helps operators quickly provide services, and accelerates the development of wireless HBB.
