Agilent Adds MPLS Analysis To Testers
July 10, 2000
PALO ALTO, CA -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the addition of Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) testing capabilities to its QA Robot and RouterTester platforms. MPLS enables service providers to define specific packet delivery paths through the Internet, rather than allowing intermediate routers to make forwarding decisions as packets travel to their final destination. This will allow providers to offer IP services with Quality of Service guarantees and Virtual Private Network (VPN) support, and permit packet-based networks to deliver reliability comparable to today's circuit-switched public network. MPLS is viewed as critical for real-time applications, such as Voice-over-IP Internet phone services.
