VI Systems Intros 40G VCSEL Driver

BERLIN -- VI Systems GmbH, a leader in ultra-high speed optical components for data communications, introduces the A40-300C integrated circuit for optical data transmission. This VCSEL (vertical cavity surface emitting laser) driver chip is designed for the use in high speed optical transceivers with serial data rates of 25 Gbit/s and 40 Gbit/s. The A40-300C is specified for the conventional VCSEL products and the proprietary EOM DBR (Electro Optical Modulated Distributed Bragg Reflector) VCSEL design of VI Systems.

The device is capable to modulate the VCSEL with very high frequencies which allow data transmission of up to 40 Gbit/s over a 50/125um multi mode fiber.
