ExceLight Communications announces key vice president appointments

DURHAM, N.C. -- ExceLight Communications Inc., a subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Industries (SEI), recently promoted Edward R. Wilson and Steve Song to Vice President positions within the company.

Ed Wilson has been promoted to Vice President of Sales. Mr. Wilson will be responsible for key account strategy and overall management for the sales organization, including the Manufacturer’s Sales Representatives network.

Mr. Wilson has held various positions with ExceLight, most recently as the General Manager of Sales. Prior, Mr. Wilson held various positions with United Technologies, Marshall Industries, and NEC/CEL, and he is a graduate of Castleton State College with degrees in business and communications. Mr.Wilson has 20 years of sales and sales management experience with a strong background in fiber optics.

Steve Song has been promoted to Vice President of Business development. Mr. Song will be responsible for business development, marketing and strategy for Excelight. He most recently held the position of Senior Director of Business Development for ExceLight.

Mr. Song joined the company in 1987 as Regional Sales Manager for the Western Region. In 1994, he left the company and founded and managed Prime Link Corp., a rep firm, until 2000, when he rejoined the company as Strategic Account Director. Mr. Song has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Seoul National University, Korea, and an MBA from University of Chicago. Mr. Song has 24 years of sales and sales management experience with a strong background in fiber optics.
