SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) (NASDAQ:AMCC) announced today that it will demonstrate the QT2035S, a 10Gbps serial-to-XAUI PHY for SFP+, at the European Conference and Exhibition on Optical Communication (ECOC) in Cannes, France. The demonstration will take place in AMCC booth #291.

The 10GBASE-LRM demo showcases the QT2035S on an AMCC SFP+ reference design. The QT2035S drives a linear 1310nm SFP+ module from Picolight over 300m of 62.5um multi mode fiber (MMF), which exceeds the IEEE802.3aq specified reach of 220m of MMF. The QT2035S successfully compensates for impairments due to the low-bandwidth fiber and the SFP+ connector, as well as impairments associated with the low-cost implementation of the XFI+ channel.

The QT2035S SFP+ reference design makes use of standard FR4 PCB material and common stripline-based layout. These cost-effective design techniques - enabled by the AMCC device - promise to greatly reduce the cost of 10G Ethernet system designs.
