SAN JOSE, Calif. -- TeraChip Inc., a leading provider of next-generation switch fabrics, today announced four new switch fabric interface devices for OC192 (10 Gbps) and OC48 (2.5 Gbps) applications. TeraChip will demonstrate its solutions at Network Systems Design Conference (NSDC) 2004 to be held in San Jose, California, October 19-21, 2004, at Parkside Hall (booth #415).

The TeraChip proprietary TCI family of interfaces features high-capacity devices that connect with a wide range of leading network processor units (NPUs), traffic managers (TMs) and line cards. The four new switch fabric interface devices are:

- TCI1X1RC - CSIX 32-bit interface (2.5 Gbps)

- TCI2X1RC - dual CSIX 32-bit interface (2.5 Gbps)

- TCI1X2RC - CSIX 64-bit interface (10 Gbps)

- TCI1X2I - CSIX-over-LVDS interface (10 Gbps)

The TCI interface devices work with TeraChip's groundbreaking TCF16X10 shared-memory fabric, which switches up to 160Gbps. A combined TeraChip TCF/TCI chipset represents the market's most integrated switching solution capable of scaling to a 320Gbps system and beyond.

The new TCI1X1RC device is a single CSIX 32-bit interface for OC48 applications, providing seamless connectivity to leading NPUs such as the Intel(R) IXP2400 network processor and Freescale(TM) Semiconductors C5e. The TCI2X1RC device is a dual CSIX 32-bit interface that enables twice the port density of the 1X1 version. Complemented by the TCI1X2RC and TCI1X2I devices that connect with the Intel(R) IXP28xx network processor as well as the EZchip NP1c and NP2 in OC192 applications, the TeraChip TCI family of interfaces delivers unrivaled flexibility and scalability to switching equipment suppliers.

"With the addition of the four new interfaces, the TeraChip TCF solution is now interoperable with all leading network processors," said Micha Zeiger, founder and CEO of TeraChip. "Providing 100% redundancy in addition to load sharing redundancy with 1.8 overspeed, the TCI family of interfaces has the industry's richest set of value-added functionality."
