Sprint to provide connectivity for Italy's Elitel to the SprintLink Global IP Network
June 21, 2002
ROME -- Sprint (NYSE: FON - News, PCS - News) announced today that Elitel, the Italian service provider focused on small- to medium-sized companies, has signed an IP (Internet Protocol) connectivity agreement to the SprintLink(TM) Global IP Network, a Tier 1 seamless network from Sprint. Under the terms of the agreement, Sprint will provide Elitel with IP connectivity to the SprintLink node in Milan. Sprint will provide Elitel with immediate access to a majority of the world's Internet content, ensuring Elitel's customers experience a steady stream of content, as they need it. "We are honored that Elitel holds our reputation for quality of service in such high esteem. In fact, we relish the prospect of meeting Elitel's high expectations. That is because we are able to deliver fast, reliable and secure IP connectivity because our IP network is seamless across the globe -- unlike some of our competitors, who are struggling to integrate several network platforms and protocols around the world, which impairs the quality of service they are able to offer," said Nicola Tordela, country manager, Italy, Sprint.
