ElectroniCast forecasts the consumption of optoelectronic integrated circuits (OEICs) and related devices to reach $1.9B by 2006
January 6, 2003
SAN MATEO, Calif. -- ElectroniCast's Optoelectronic Integrated Circuits (OEICs) and Related Devices/Parts Rapid Reaction Report presents a detailed competitive analysis, 1999-2002 history and 2003-2006 forecast of OEIC applications and of the consumption of OEICs, devices and parts. This forecast is segmented by OEIC functional types, devices and parts, components and device supply by vertically integrated vs. non-integrated vendors, and regions of global market.“The global consumption of optoelectronic integrated circuits will rebound from a 2002 low of $320 million to $1.94 billion in 2006,” according to the report’s director, ElectroniCast Founder and Chairman Jeff D. Montgomery. “Most consumption value will be achieved by hybrid OEICs; 59 percent in 2003 (as shown in attached chart). The fastest growth, however, will be by monolithic OEICs,” Montgomery said.Telecommunication equipment transceivers will lead OEIC applications, but the fastest growth will be achieved in military/aerospace equipment consumption, gaining a 36 percent value share by 2006. According to the report, competition in OEIC provision is now undergoing dramatic change, due to restructuring of traditional leading OEIC producers, emergence of startups to commercial shipments status, and the transition from silicon to compound semiconductor materials.ElectroniCast Corp.
