Key features of the fiber optic switch are low insertion loss and high crosstalk
December 8, 2000
MUNICH -- AIFOtec AG releases first samples of fiberoptic 1x2 switches. Key feature of the new switch is the low insertion loss and high cross talk. This is achieved by using the principle of fiberoptic switching, in which light is rerouted over a single fiber-fiber coupling. The switching times achieved by this method are typically under 10ms.
The new AIFOtec switches are also very small in size and high volume price for this component is forecasted to be very competitive. The newly presented product is predestined for use as a protective switch in fiberoptic networks or for testing equipment. In the event of a break in the fiber of the active line, a redundant line is prepared to take over at once.
