PARIS -- CIRPACK, developer of next generation voice switches for operators’ infrastructures, today announced that industry research firm Infonetics Research, Inc. named Cirpack the largest supplier of softswitch platforms to telecom service providers in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Infonetics reported that in 2004, Cirpack secured 24% of all the sofswitch licences shipped in the European, Middle East and African markets and 46% of the Class-5 sofswitch licenses which are used by operators to deliver telephony services over broadband with VoIP. Cirpack deployed over 3 times more Class-5 subscriber lines in EMEA than its closest competitor. Infonetics also reported that Cirpack is now the third largest Class-5 softswitch supplier worldwide with 9% of the lines shipped in 2004.

“The worldwide softswitch market grew 82% in 2004, reaching US$621 million. Operators around the world are modernizing their network with softswitches and VoIP or planning to do so in the near future.” explains Kevin Mitchell, directing analyst, Infonetics Research. “Cirpack was successful in 2004 and emerged as a leader in Europe, Middle East and Africa. We expect Europe to be an even hotter spot for VoIP deployments in 2005.”

“In 2004, Cirpack doubled its customer base, and saw its revenue and profit grow 120%. Cirpack now has about 50 customers in 15 different countries, including several of the largest VoIP operators as well as many legacy service providers. Our voice switching solution is becoming the heart of the European PSTN,” explains Jean-Pierre Dumolard, Cirpack’s CEO. “We anticipate Cirpack will double its size again in 2005 as more operators are migrating to Next Generation Networks. Our technology is performing extremely well and we have structured our operations to sustain such a growth.”
