SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Infoblox, the leading developer of network identity appliances, today announced that Robert Thomas has joined the company as president and CEO.

Thomas, who most recently was president and CEO of NetScreen Technologies Inc., will be responsible for guiding Infoblox as it rapidly scales to meet the growing demand for its products, which let enterprises more efficiently manage the network protocols that control network access, control, and availability.

"As enterprises continue to leverage the Internet for mission-critical applications, having a reliable network identity infrastructure is imperative to business continuity," Thomas said. "Infoblox is the only player in the space that has the people and technology to drive this fundamental change in networking."

"Robert is a perfect match for Infoblox because he understands our vision, and shares our enthusiasm in solving a huge problem for our customers," said Stuart Bailey, founder and CTO of Infoblox. "His expertise and experience will help us solve the 'network identity crisis' many enterprises are experiencing by integrating our DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, and LDAP appliances into the fabric of every network."

Thomas has more than 25 years of management experience in the technology sector. As president and CEO of NetScreen Technologies, he grew the company from a development-stage startup with 31 employees to a successful public company with 950 employees and a revenue run-rate exceeding US$400 million. After executing the country's most successful IPO in 2001, Juniper Networks acquired the company in April 2004 for about $4 billion.

Before NetScreen, Thomas was general manager of intercontinental operations and director of international marketing development at Sun Microsystems, overseeing Sun's international business opportunities and policies. He has also held technology management positions at Fujitsu and ICL. Thomas holds a B.Sc. in mathematics from Adelaide University in Australia.
