DOHA, Qatar -- ictQATAR, the Supreme Council for Information and Communications Technology, today announced that 12 companies demonstrated the capabilities to pre-qualify for the second mobile license application process in Qatar. ictQATAR is the telecommunications regulatory authority for the State of Qatar.
From 23 April through 27 May 2007, ictQATAR conducted its Mobile Pre-Qualification process. Seventeen Applications were received from registered candidates. After a comprehensive and careful assessment of each application in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Mobile Pre- Qualification process, the following candidates were pre-qualified:
ACE Consortium (operator Airtel)
Argos Consortium (operator Verizon)
AT&T
Batelco
Digicel
Etisalat
Jordan Telecom
MTC
Orascom Telecom
QUIC Consortium (operators Omantel and Belgacom)
Reliance Telecom
Vodafone
These candidates have been invited to participate in the final process to award the second mobile licence.
