European service providers choose Covergence to scale, secure, control Access Edge
January 28, 2008
MAYNARD, Mass. -- Covergence®, the leading provider of next-generation Session Border Controller solutions, today announced that GlobalConnect/SuperTel A/S, DGC, InTechnology, Hipcom, VanillaIP and IP Directions, have chosen Covergence Session Manager (CSM) to enforce security, management and control policies at the access edge of their networks. CSM, a super set of traditional Session Border Controllers (SBCs), is designed specifically to address the challenges of the most vulnerable region of IP networks – the access edge. By deploying CSM, service providers can deliver Voice over IP (VoIP) and other real-time services, ensuring that customers receive the secure, reliable access to communications service they require.
Demand for VoIP, real-time and enhanced services continues to increase as more enterprises see the potential cost savings and productivity enhancements offered by these services. As businesses move primary-line telephones to IP, demand for “toll quality” connections is growing as well. To meet this demand, service providers must be able to scale the access edge with consistency and predictability, and Covergence Session Manager (CSM) is the industry's first session management solution designed for the access edge.
“As a large alternative provider of tele and data-communication services in Scandinavia and Northern Germany, GlobalConnect is focused on helping organisations build and expand their access services,” said Niels Zibrandtsen, CEO, GlobalConnect. "After evaluating several Session Border Controller solutions, we found Covergence Session Manager uniquely suited to deliver the security, quality and reliability that we need to deploy VoIP and real-time services to our customers through our VOIP subsidary, SuperTel A/S."
