HERZELIA, Israel -- VocalTec Communications Ltd. (NASDAQ:VOCL - News), a leading global provider of carrier-class multimedia and voice-over-IP solutions for communication service providers, announced today that Alink Telecom, a telecom operator in the Ivory Coast, is deploying Vocal Tec's Essentra(TM) products to support their rollout of new voice services.

This follows Alink's 2005 deployment of VocalTec's Essentra(TM) VoIP Peering Solution and serves Alink's goal of establishing itself as a key player in the West African VoIP market. Alink's installation of VocalTec's Trunking solution, Essentra CX as well as the installation of the enhanced Peering solution, Essentra EX 7.0, will enable Alink to smoothly migrate to a VoIP Next Generation Network, while maintaining seamless connectivity to PSTN/SS7 services, reducing operating costs and enhancing service flexibility and enabling the rapid addition of a new revenue stream.

The Alink deployment of the VocalTec solution also includes the Essentra TMS for traffic management. The Essentra TMS is a web-based service assurance and traffic management system, supporting near real-time network performance and QoS monitoring for optimized network operations.

"VocalTec's Essentra product line, with its high performance and ability to reliably scale with rapidly growing traffic volumes, provided a compelling proposition for our network requirements," said Gerard Avoaka, Chief Technology Officer at Alink Telecom. "VocalTec's outstanding technical support and responsiveness gives us the capabilities we need to expand our network into new countries."

Edu Meytal, VP Sales at VocalTec, said, "Alink Telecom is a perfect example of an innovative operator with a vision for bringing IP voice services to market as quickly as possible, and making the most of the opportunities presented by VoIP Next Generation Networks technology. We look forward to expanding this relationship and our presence in the African market."
