BELLEVUE, Wash. -- MidStream Technologies™, a leading developer of broadcast quality Video on Demand (VoD) and Network Digital Video Recording (nDVR) servers and solutions and DataDirect Networks, the world's leader in high-performance, high-scalability networked storage, announced today they have demonstrated a scalable nDVR streaming system that also ingests and stores 75 channels of live broadcast programming totaling over 35,000 hours of archived content.

Utilizing the MidStream Technologies MVS-2000 Video Server and the DataDirect S2A8000 Fiber Channel Storage Controller and Disk Array, the companies have proven that the era of On Demand Television can now become a reality.

The Midstream MVS-2000 Video Server is a highly flexible, reliable and cost effective video platform that delivers unprecedented performance in a small footprint. Midstream’s server and storage technologies, combined with Midstream’s Dynamic Asset Management System, Resource Controller and Content Writer products, position Midstream’s continued leadership in nDVR On-Demand solutions providing operators with the ability to offer their subscribers unprecedented programming choice and viewing control.

The DataDirect S2A8000 and S2A8500 comprise the ultimate storage platforms for rich-media environments. With single-system performance up to 12Gigabits/sec and storage capacity in excess of 100Terabytes of either Fibre-Channel or Serial-ATA disk drives, the S2A family reduces the complexity of large-scale VoD environments while providing cost and operational benefits vastly superior to other approaches.

“We have the advantage of a video server platform that was designed to be very flexible and scalable, as is DataDirect’s S2A8000 solution,” said Ed Huguez, Chief Executive Officer at MidStream Technologies. “nDVR tests the ingest, asset management, streaming and storage performance for on-demand services, and customers like the results we deliver.”

DataDirect Networks, the networked storage leader, utilizing the DataDirect S2A family and Fiber Channel Disk Arrays, is being embraced by the VoD market to provide an economical and scalable solution to a unique storage need - archiving real-time on-line video storage.

"Our goals are consistent with Midstream’s: provide an easy to manage and deploy solution that delivers the unmatched levels of performance and scalability our valued customers have come to expect from us," said Alex Bouzari, CEO of DataDirect Networks. "The DataDirect S2A8000's unique architecture enables rich-media capabilities providing the most robust networked storage system designed specifically for video streaming environments."
