Sonus Likes Ulticom

BOSTON -- Ulticom®, Inc. (NASDAQ:ULCM - News), a leading provider of network signaling solutions, today announced that Sonus Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:SONS - News), a leading supplier of service provider Voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure solutions, has agreed to extend its partnership with the company. Sonus has selected Ulticom Signalware Gateway as the underlying technology for the evolution of its SGX product. Sonus is the preeminent provider of VoIP and multimedia infrastructure solutions for today's next-generation communications networks, and has deployed Ulticom Signalware SS7 technology as part of its SGX product for several years. The contract extension continues the two companies' long-standing partnership by adding the standards-based SS7 over IP signaling capabilities of Ulticom Signalware Gateway, to interconnect existing SS7 systems with the IP-based services offered by Sonus.

Signalware Gateway is an enabling component built on Ulticom's field-proven SS7 and SIGTRAN products. It provides the capability to transport SS7 traffic over IP networks using protocols defined by the IETF, including SCTP, M2PA, M3UA, and SUA. Unlike proprietary solutions, Signalware Gateway is based on open standards so it can be deployed on several hardware platforms and operating systems. Signalware Gateway also serves as the foundation for Ulticom's new nSignia product, a complete, carrier-grade signaling infrastructure solution, providing plug and play SS7 and IP transport layer connectivity for communication applications.
