SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Fiberxon recently announced the availability of their 1000BASE-T copper SFP transceivers with auto-negotiation capability. Fiberxon’s 1000BASE-T copper SFP transceiver is based on the Small Form Pluggable (SFP) Multi Source Agreement (MSA), integrated compact RJ-45 electrical connector and patented spring latch for high density applications. It supports 10/100/1000BASE-T operation and 100m transmission distance over unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) category-5 cable, which provides a high-performance, cost-effective and flexible solution for Gigabit Ethernet system applications.

Fiberxon’s 1000BASE-T Copper SFP is compatible with the Gigabit Ethernet and 1000BASE-T standards as specified in IEEE 802.3-2002. The module can be inserted into optical SFP slots converting the optical Ethernet port (1000BASE-X) into the copper Ethernet port (1000BASE-T) without software or hardware modification, and also can be applied with SGMII interface when working in 10/100/1000BASE-T auto-negotiation mode. The copper SFP supports 10/100/1000Mbps full duplex data-links with 5-level Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) signals on all four pairs in the cable.
