One of the key criteria that Portugal Telecom evaluated when selecting Telarix's iXTools software solution was the ability to increase operational efficiencies in the competitive international market while reducing the interconnect complexities resulting from non-standardized numbering plans. Leveraging Telarix's pioneering Vendor Specific Rating (VSR(tm)), Portugal Telecom will be able to calculate the exact termination cost of the traffic based on the vendor's specific number plans and rates. By eliminating blended rates and estimated costs, the carrier has immediate visibility into the actual costs and associated margins of all their complex traffic routes. Additionally, Portugal Telecom will deploy iXTranslate(tm), the new extension to Telarix's iXRoute(tm) software module. The innovative product extension provides carriers the ability to automatically activate interconnect route guide changes at the switch level, significantly reducing operating costs and increasing network efficiency.
