WALTHAM, Mass. -- NetCracker Technology reaffirmed its commitment to delivering innovative telecom-specific solutions by announcing the deployment of its Cross-Domain Management Solution, which will deliver to Communications Service Providers (CSPs) a key component needed to transform their service layer and accelerate convergence.

"CSPs, like one of Canada's leading telecom operators - TELUS, need to define and introduce new services quickly and efficiently. Several barriers stand in their way, primarily the compartmentalized Operational Support Systems (OSS) and IT systems, the cost of upgrades to legacy systems, and time and money required for a wholesale replacement of legacy OSS," said Andrew Feinberg, president and chief executive officer at NetCracker. "Until now, solutions developed to address these challenges were highly customized and non-systemic. NetCracker has made available a tier-one, enterprise-wide industry solution that can be deployed quickly."

The key differentiator of this system is that it can manage legacy and converged services that originate in different domains, both network and IT, and across physical and logical dimensions. This is critical because the business objective of a cross-domain management system is not just to manage across resources, but to manage the delivery of services regardless of the underlying domain.

"NetCracker's Cross-Domain Management capability enables us to deliver next-generation services using an optimal combination of existing and new OSS," said Kevin Salvadori, executive vice-president, and chief information officer at TELUS. "It gives us the flexibility to retire older systems at our pace and transform the service layer with minimal disruption to our customers."
