MARKHAM, Ont. -- Navtel Communications Inc., a developer and provider of test equipment for the laboratories of network equipment manufacturers and operators has rapidly become the supplier of choice for GMPLS testing solutions around the globe.

Shanghai's Jiao Tong University implemented China's first all-optical network test bed for commercial purposes in the middle of 2001, which has advanced research and promoted the industrialization of optical networking technology in China. More recently the University was tasked by the Chinese authorities (as part of Project 863 [ASON Sector]) to facilitate GMPLS deployment to a number of key carriers across China. Navtel was chosen as the preferred GMPLS test equipment supplier under the guidance of Dr Jin, thanks to its ability to provide UNI-N & ENNI emulation testing and the importance it places on adhering to the latest industry standards as defined by the OIF, ITU-T and IETF.

Stéphane Attal, the President of Navtel recently commented that "Jiao Tong University has provided Navtel with an unparalleled opportunity to demonstrate our range of GMPLS test solutions to key Chinese Carriers who are driving the deployment of China's next generation optical networks. That Navtel was selected in preference to other GMPLS test equipment providers speaks volumes about the quality and depth of our solutions in this very competitive marketplace".
