Exfo Introduces Analyzers

QUEBEC CITY -- EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSE: EXF) announced today the launch of two new optical spectrum analyzers* (OSAs) at OFC 2001 in Anaheim, CA. The high-end, IQ-5250 OSA features an increased wavelength range (950 to 1650 nm), better resolution (50 pm) and a 10 dB improvement in dynamic range over the former model. These specifications are essential for measuring the higher channel counts and narrowly spaced wavelengths in dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) networks. EXFO’s portable FTB-5240 OSA already offered industry-leading specifications for the field-testing market, but it was further upgraded with a 10 dB improvement in optical rejection ratio (ORR) to produce the FTB-5240B. Both instruments are on display at Booth 2400 during OFC 2001 from March 19-21 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

“The FTB-5240B OSA really sets us apart,” said Mario Larose, Vice-President of Marketing at EXFO. “We not only have the only truly portable and field-ready OSA, but we now have an ORR measurement comparable to the big, bulky lab OSAs of our competitors. Our scientific OSA, meanwhile, provides optical component and system manufacturers with reliable and accurate measurements that are needed on the production floor.”
