MADRID, Spain -- CIRPACK, a Thomson subsidiary and leader in the market for next generation voice switches for operators’ infrastructures, and Enertel NV, one of the largest telecommunications operator in the Netherlands, today announced the completed deployment of Cirpack’s MultiNode solutions for the delivery of IP telephony services to Enertel’s Corporate and Wholesale customers.

Enertel recently launched the VIP service (Virtual IP-PBX, and IP Centrex service), delivering PBX-features over broadband local loops without investing in a PBX located at the customer premises. Leveraging Cirpack MultiNode’s IP Centrex capabilities, Enertel is offering a complete set of hosted-PBX features, with high quality and reliability. Enertel is also connecting its customers’ existing PBX to its IP infrastructure and manage both PBX and IP Centrex users in a global Voice VPN. More innovative voice over IP services will be introduced over time to target the specific needs of all Enertel customers: Large accounts, Internet service providers and long distance carriers among others.

“Our strategy has always been to package more content to bring more value to our customers. Telephony is a fundamental service and IP broadband allows for its delivery in a particularly cost-effective way. Our customers can now benefit from the same user experience as with conventional telephony services but at much lower prices,” explains Cees Meeuwis, CEO, Enertel NV. “Cirpack already provides equipment for some of the largest VoIP deployments in Europe and has proven that Voice over Broadband can be implemented rapidly and on a very large scale. Opting for Cirpack technology has enabled Enertel to provide advanced services and business-class voice quality in record time.”

“With leading operators like Enertel moving forward, the market for IP Centrex, the service that enables enterprises to merge voice telephony and Internet technology on a single, simpler, cost-effective network, is ready for prime time,” says Jean-Pierre Dumolard, Cirpack’s General Manager and head of Thomson’s Next Generation Network activities. “Cirpack’s IP Centrex platform is just a software add-on to our local exchange switch, which makes the solution very cost-effective, scalable and reliable. Cirpack’s IP Centrex matches the features of a conventional switch allowing Enertel to promote a non-disruptive migration to its corporate customers. We are very proud Enertel has selected Cirpack solutions and look forward to helping them launch additional VoIP services as they move forward.”

Enertel has deployed Cirpack MultiNode with project management, planning, installation, and maintenance services delivered through IBM Global Services. Cirpack MultiNode is a highly scalable Class-5 telephony switch that can be configured for integrated or distributed SoftSwitch architectures. It was designed to deliver primary line voice services over legacy local loops as well as IP and ATM access networks simultaneously, ensuring seamless interworking with the PSTN and meeting all legal requirements such as lawful intercepts, local number portability and access to emergency numbers.
