LOS GATOS, Calif. -- Network- and storage-security market leader Hifn(TM) (NASDAQ:HIFN) , announced today that Converged Access, the leader in delivering intelligent application performance control for converged VoIP, data and video applications, has selected Hifn's MeterFlow(TM), a flow classification software package, for their Converged Traffic Manager (CTM) solution. Converged Access utilizes MeterFlow as part of its intelligent application performance control solution to assure quality of user experience for converged IP business applications.

"We selected the MeterFlow software because of the granular application classification it provides," said Doug Antaya, VP of marketing, Converged Access. "MeterFlow enables us to provide our customers layer seven visibility- on a per-session and user basis -- across VoIP, IP video, and other critical business applications."

IT managers have found that their critical business applications are being affected, sometimes dramatically, by non-critical, bandwidth-consuming applications, such as Streaming Internet Radio. Through solutions such as the CTM, IT managers can enforce their policies and keep their network running at optimal performance.

"MeterFlow provides state-based classification -- in real-time," said Robert Friend, product line director with Hifn. "WAN optimization solutions from Converged Access are great examples of the benefits end-customers can derive from utilizing MeterFlow's granular application analysis."

MeterFlow's patented technology extensively analyzes application-specific data in real time, allowing it to determine the content and identify the application of each packet as well as the relationships between packets. Specifically, MeterFlow recognizes and correlates network flows with their associated applications, providing customers a higher level of visibility into stateful applications and services.
