SUNNYVALE, Calif. and LOS GATOS, Calif. -- Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BCSI - News), a leading Web security company and Finjan Software, the leading provider of proactive security solutions for global companies, today announced a partnership that includes the integration of Finjan's Vital Security product, SurfinGate for Web, to the solid line-up of Web security solutions that leverage the performance and scalability of Blue Coat's Web security appliance platform. Finjan's solution augments existing Blue Coat virus scanning and content filtering partnerships by providing comprehensive active content security and malicious mobile code protection, securing networks against new and unknown virus threats. By leveraging its unique "scan-once, serve-many" approach and the Internet Content Adaptation Protocol (ICAP), the Blue Coat Web Security Appliance platform intelligently inspects Web content traversing the open port 80 and forwards potentially malicious active content to the SurfinGate for Web product for proactive malicious mobile code inspection. Content determined to be malicious is discarded while safe content is delivered to the requesting user in real-time and also stored in cache on the Blue Coat appliance. The Blue Coat security appliance then fulfills subsequent requests for clean content without impacting the SurfinGate for Web application. "Blue Coat functions as an accelerator that fuels perimeter Web security services like content filtering, virus scanning and now proactive content security and malicious mobile code protection from Finjan," said Brian NeSmith, president and CEO of Blue Coat Systems. "Blue Coat's highly-advance technology includes our patent-applied-for Policy Processing Engine(TM) that puts granular policy control and enforcement in the hands of the network security administrator." In a separate release: SUNNYVALE, Calif. and SAN DIEGO -- Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BCSI - News), a Web security company, and Websense, Inc. (Nasdaq: WBSN - News), the worldwide leader of employee Internet management (EIM) solutions, today announced an enhanced strategic partnership to distribute Websense's next-generation EIM database on Blue Coat's award-winning Web security appliance platform. The Websense for Blue Coat solution will support the Websense Master Database featuring more than 80 categories of content, add-on Premium Groups that help IT managers stop malicious mobile code and spyware, and support for 44 different languages. "Customers have requested this type of integrated solution, and we're pleased to now provide a new deployment option that optimizes functionality without compromising performance," said Andy Meyer, vice president of marketing for Websense Inc.
