RCN and Sorpresa! sponsor second annual children's essay contest in celebration of Hispanic Heritage month

HERNDON, Va. -- RCN Corporation (NASDAQ: RCNI - News), a leading provider of triple play cable, high-speed internet and phone services, is teaming up with Juniper Content Corporation's (OTCBB: JNPC; "Juniper") Sorpresa! network, America's first Hispanic kids network, for the second year to sponsor a children's essay-writing contest during Hispanic Heritage month. The contest, which begins September 15, 2007 through October 15, 2007, highlights the growing importance of Hispanic heritage.

"RCN recognizes the important part that heritage plays in our customer's lives," noted RCN SVP of Strategic and External Affairs Richard Ramlall. "Hispanic Heritage Month is the perfect time for us to spotlight the contributions that heritage brings to our culture, and the children's essay contest is a fun way to increase awareness."

Ramlall added that RCN took the lead last year in designing and launching a comprehensive and unique offering addressing its customer's diverse Hispanic culture. "Our 'Paquete de Paises' or 'Countries Package' of cable TV networks includes our Hispanic MiVision programming, which connects many of our customers back to their countries of origin."
