AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands -- IBC 2006 -- Espial® IPTV, a leading provider of IPTV middleware and applications, announces support for the first wave of High Definition (HD) set-top boxes. On display at the Tilgin booth (4.299), Espial’s Evo™ service platform is running on Tilgin’s new High Definition IP STB, the Mood 400. The Evo™ service platform allows operators to offer to subscribers a superior HD quality of experience that is graphically-rich, fully skinnable, turbo-fast, and truly open and customizable.

Espial’s support for HD expands the capabilities of a growing ecosystem of STB manufacturers who have selected the Espial IPTV service platform. These include:

  • Tilgin

  • Amino

  • Celrun

  • Dasan

  • Kreatel

  • Mitsumi

  • Sentivision

  • Sunniwell

  • Sumitomo

  • Yuxing

“We just launched the Tilgin Mood 400, our top-of-the line IP set-top box for advanced MPEG-4 HD entertainment, and are pleased to announce our choice of Evo™ as the first middleware to integrate with. This integration offers operators a customizable and high performance solution with impressive functionality. Evo allows operators to quickly enable the new advanced features we support on the Mood 400, such as HD graphics, advanced personal video recording (PVR), customizable display and DVB-T,” said Chris Chalkitis, CTO, Tilgin.

Espial’s Evo™ service platform is built upon an open and modular data-driven architecture. This architecture allows operators to provide a captivating IPTV experience without the performance degradation that is typical of first-generation technologies. Further, operators have full control to brand and customize their offerings to their exact specifications. Evo includes applications such as Electronic Program Guide, Video on Demand, Interactive Portal, Personalized Settings and Browser.

“Our support for HDTV enables operators to provide a graphically-rich user interface without sacrificing the turbo-fast performance the industry has come to expect from Espial,” said Brian Mahony, Vice President of Marketing, Espial. “The ease and speed with which we implemented support for the new Tilgin HD box highlight Evo’s open architecture and portability— as a result operators have tremendous flexibility to select a specific STB that fits their business model.”
