Espial Shows Its TV Middleware

Scientific-Atlanta to demonstrate Espial TV middleware and applications at NAB 2005

OTTAWA -- Espial today announced the demonstration of its Espial Evo client TV Middleware and Applications with Scientific-Atlanta's set-top boxes, targeting operators looking for highly-performant, revenue-generating video applications. The demonstration is on display at Scientific-Atlanta's booth #SU7848 at NAB April 18-21, 2005. Espial is the leading provider of set-top box and mobile handset software, specializing in applications for IPTV designs.

Espial Evo provides out-of-box, ready to integrate applications for Set-Top Box and Digital TV designs such as Electronic Program Guide (EPG), Video on Demand (VOD), TV Controls, Settings, and Portal services. Espial Evo's architecture includes client application middleware necessary for EPG and VOD data management including APIs for the integration parameters such as frequency of data retrieval, amount of data managed on STB, and error conditions.

The STi5100 chipset is a low cost, trusted platform for Broadband and other video services and features a 240 MHz CPU and 4 graphics planes with 16-bit OSD.
