New FlexConnect service offers dynamic, pay-per-usage, connections to a variety of popular cloud offerings and the Equinix exchange.
March 30, 2016
LONDON, UK / BOULDER, Colo. – Zayo Group Holdings, Inc. launches FlexConnect, a usage-based Ethernet product for cloud and data center connectivity. FlexConnect provides dedicated Layer 2 Ethernet connecting to more than 200 data centers, cloud, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) providers, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, VMWare and Cisco Intercloud.
Traditionally, cloud and IaaS offerings allow businesses to pay only for the resources they use. Cloud connectivity, on the other hand, generally requires a fixed contract with fixed fees. FlexConnect helps resolve this issue by enabling businesses with fluctuating connectivity needs to only pay for the data they transport. Customers can manage and purchase FlexConnect, available from 500 Mbps to 100 Gbps, on Tranzact, Zayo’s online self-service platform. With Tranzact, customers can compare prices, purchase services, track orders, view their bandwidth usage and invoices.
FlexConnect leverages Zayo’s owned and operated fiber network that includes 110,000 route miles in North America and Europe. Customers benefit from the expansive reach of the company’s metro and intercity fiber footprint with dedicated, high-performance connectivity.
“We are excited to continue to work with Zayo to bring new, creative network solutions to customers inside Equinix International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centres. FlexConnect will provide customers in our facilities with on-demand, cost-effective connectivity to a wider selection of providers and destinations,” said Bill Long, vice president of Interconnection Services at Equinix. “We also look forward to attracting new customers who now have an exciting new option to connect to our Cloud Exchange."
