Verio global IP security gateway enables the economies of a shared network with the security of a private network
May 7, 2002
LAS VEGAS -- Verio, a subsidiary of NTT Communications and a leading provider of global Internet Protocol (IP) solutions, has introduced an IP virtual private network (VPN) service that enables enterprises to save between 30 and 40 percent off the cost of traditional frame-relay or leased-line services. The new IP VPN service - the NTT/VERIO Global IP Security Gateway - allows businesses to establish wide-area networks (WANs) with the security of private networks and the flexibility and economic benefits of IP-based networks. The NTT/VERIO Global IP Security Gateway is a network-based IP VPN service that has intelligent gateways strategically located in Europe, Asia, and the United States that leverage the NTT/VERIO Global IP Network. The service makes it easy for customers to securely connect a large number of offices, vendors, customers, third parties, and employees cost effectively in a highly meshed configuration. Depending on the configuration, prices start at $400 a month. The NTT/VERIO Global IP Security Gateway allows enterprises to use less expensive Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and makes it simple for enterprises to add locations as their network expands. The service features end-to-end encryption using IPSec, the industry's Internet security protocol of choice, and industry-leading service level agreements, which includes a 100 percent availability goal, and provides guarantees for 0.3 percent packet loss, and 60 ms latency in America, 90 ms latency trans-Atlantic and 130 ms latency trans-Pacific between gateways.
