MINNEAPOLIS -- Optical Solutions, Inc. the market leader in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) communications solutions, today announced that it has been awarded a contract from South Central Communications, an incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC) serving approximately 14,000 access lines in Utah and Arizona. "We evaluated copper, but felt it would be short-sighted to install it from a bandwidth perspective," said Dan Spencer, general manager of South Central. "Fiber has a nearly infinite amount of bandwidth capacity, and Optical Solutions had the best business case for delivering voice and data services to our customers in this greenfield setting." South Central will deploy the FiberPath 400 system from Optical Solutions. The all-optical FiberPath 400 system offers the latest in converged services to the home and business, including high-speed Internet access, and multiple lifeline-quality voice connections.
