Time Warner Cable deploys Optinel's PLEXiS MFX transport platform to support its Green Bay, Wisconsin services
January 14, 2004
ELKRIDGE, Md. -- Optinel Systems, a privately held provider of converged network solutions, announced today that Time Warner Cable’s Green Bay Division has deployed Optinel’s PLEXiSTM MFX transport platform to support a variety of services in Northeast Wisconsin.
“Optinel’s flexible transport platform provides numerous advantages that complement our current network designs,” said Bruce Catter, VP of engineering for Time Warner Cable Green Bay Division. “Optinel’s versatile PLEXiS MFX provides us with the solution we need today, as well as the ability to scale as future needs increase.”
The addition of Time Warner Cable’s Green Bay Division to Optinel’s growing MSO customer base is a testament to the effectiveness and value of the PLEXiS transport solution. Optinel’s PLEXiS hardware and software products offer service providers the scalability, capacity and network control necessary to enable a variety of advanced services with ultra-high network reliability and proven economic advantages. This deployment marks the second large-scale commercial installation of the PLEXiS solution within a Time Warner Cable division.
Key to this deployment is Optinel’s highly scalable optical Gigabit Ethernet solution. Available in multiple transceiver, transmitter and receiver formats, this comprehensive array of products provides 1, 2.5 or 10 Gbps of unidirectional or bidirectional capacity per wavelength, allowing a perfect balance between high network capacity and granular scalability. A highly flexible optical platform cost-effectively supports a wide variety of network configurations, ranging from simple, point-to-point links to fully-protected, multi-service ring or star topologies. Additionally, Optinel’s feature-rich suite of software products provides the necessary network management and control functions to support network deployments of all sizes and configurations.
“The Green Bay deployment of the PLEXiS MFX transport system once again demonstrates Optinel’s ability to reliably and cost-effectively deliver video and data services on a converged platform,” said Jim Faust, CEO of Optinel Systems. “Coupled with our 10G Ethernet product, Optinel offers MSOs a complete transport solution alleviating future concerns of bandwidth limitations.”
