PISCATAWAY, N.J. and BERN, Switzerland -- Telcordia Technologies, a global provider of telecommunications software and services, and Sicap AG, a leading GSM application developer, are helping Swisscom Mobile, the largest mobile operator in that country, evolve to IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) by bringing increased functionality and flexibility of real-time charging to its network operations.
With the growing popularity of IP-based services and customers' increasing use of mobile data offerings, pricing and flexibility are critical success factors for customer adoption of new services. As such, real-time charging capabilities are gaining significant importance as carriers offer advanced services and customers demand flexibility and choice in payment offerings.
Already a user of the Telcordia® Converged Application Server, an advanced service delivery platform, Swisscom Mobile will benefit from the addition of the Telcordia® Converged Real-Time Charging, which provides the capabilities to create customized service plans and pricing offers that meet customer demand and drive revenues. Both products are part of the Telcordia® Maestro IMS Portfolio, a powerful set of wireless, wireline and converged products, services and applications that enable carriers to offer any service, over any network, via any device.
In addition, as Swisscom Mobile migrates its network to IMS, the added functionality will enable Swisscom Mobile to quickly and easily offer advanced data services such as online gaming, downloadable content and multimedia messaging to its four million customers. The ISCP System and Converged Real-Time Charging are part of the Telcordia Maestro(TM) IMS Portfolio.
"IMS is clearly the engine of growth for the telecommunications industry and carriers must tend to their network operations first in order to benefit from all that it has to offer," said Scott Erickson, President, IMS Service Delivery Solutions, Telcordia. "Telcordia understands the profound impact that IMS will have on the industry and we are, helping Swisscom transform its business model to introduce exciting new service offerings, realize new revenue and stake a early leadership position as the industry converges."
Integration of the solution will be handled by Swiss company Sicap AG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Swisscom Mobile and a leading provider of mobile applications and products.
"The opportunity to integrate Telcordia's real-time data charging solution into Swisscom Mobile's network is a major success point in our relationship," said Urs Lohnert, Sicap's Sales and Marketing Director. "It provides proof of the quality of the relationship but also demonstrates Sicap's expertise in quickly and cost effectively integrating solutions into complex infrastructure environments."
