LONDON -- Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, has announced that the Swiss Federal Office for Information Technology and telecommunication (FOITT) is deploying Cisco Internet Routers for its new high-speed network infrastructure. MPLS VPN is the key technology of this deal. The Swiss Federal office is aiming at offering carrier class services to other departments of the federal government and the Swiss Cantons. To achieve this FOITT chose several Cisco products to support its network. This includes 12416 Internet Router to scale the bandwidth in the core up to 10Gbps, Cisco 7609 Internet Router as the best performing, most flexible and economical. "Working with Swisscom Enterprise Solutions, a solution was designed that fit the customer's needs both now and in the future. FOITT needed a solution that continues to scale with the growing demands from E-Gov,E-learning and other applications." says Moritz Wyler, Account Manager. Swisscom Enterprise Solution, the System Integration Division of the largest Carrier in Switzerland, won the contract to build this new Network.
