Spirent ships complete interoperability test solution for ADSL
May 8, 2002
LAS VEGAS -- Spirent Communications(TM), a wholly owned business group of Spirent plc (NYSE:SPM and LSE:SPT), today announced a new product that facilitates the delivery of the industry's first and only complete solution for the DSL Forum TR-048 specification for ADSL interoperability testing. This new product and integrated solution will provide accurate and repeatable laboratory testing capabilities to analyze the performance of DSL systems prior to real-world deployment. The new DLS 400IA Wireline Simulator System was designed to help network equipment manufacturers, independent test labs, carriers and chipset designers ensure their ADSL products conform to the exact DSL Forum specifications for North American compatibility. The DSL Forum set forth a WT-062 ADSL interoperability test plan, which Spirent's new product supports. The interoperability test plan is designed to demonstrate the interoperability of ADSL modems with various DSLAMs. Key elements include loop reach data, handling performance and electrical compatibility. The DLS 400IA is specifically designed to address Cluster A, within the TR-048 test specification, which has been introduced to represent a typical network in North America. A European option to address Cluster B of TR-048 will be introduced shortly by Spirent as an upgrade package. Spirent PLC
