December 17, 2003
OTTAWA -- Nakina(TM) Systems Inc., an Ottawa-based independent software vendor, today announced that it has completed the acquisition of iPine Networks Inc., a privately held company with leading edge products that provide network operators with vastly improved visibility of the services and applications being carried on their networks. Nakina Systems paid an undisclosed amount of cash and stock in order to complete the transaction.
"We are investing in technology and experience that is fundamental to delivering total network visibility to our customers," said Dave Vicary, President and CEO of Nakina Systems. "This is a strategic investment that brings Nakina into the global enterprise network management market while extending our product portfolio from optical discovery and element management into IP data networks and service management."
Nakina Systems will combine its leading optical discovery and network management technology with iPine's IP data services management products to deliver a complete portfolio of network and service management applications under one umbrella. These innovative products combined will provide operators with total visibility of physical assets, network connections, and the services and applications carried on those connections. The resulting automation enables better utilization of capital equipment and network facilities, reduced network operating expenses, pro-active network planning, and real-time failure analysis and resolution.
"Building on iPine's technology strengths and compelling business case, this acquisition brings additional investments to iPine products and provides the necessary resources to accelerate the delivery of unique service management solutions to our existing and new customers," said Kalai Kalaichelvan, Chairman and Co-founder of iPine Networks. "The combined Nakina and iPine team has a shared vision for total network visibility and control that will be unbeatable in the Real-time Service Intelligence market."
