COPENHAGEN -- Maersk Data, one of the world's largest providers of central IT operations, has chosen Nokia to ensure business continuity among its global customers. Maersk Data, headquartered in Denmark, supports customers across the world with its independent global network. The company owns or partly owns more than 30 companies across six different countries, including Sweden, UK, USA, India and Japan and is split into 14 business units. The company began its work with Nokia by first testing a number of Nokia's mid-range IP300 Series of IP network security appliances. After successful performance testing of these systems, it quickly added to its hardware from Nokia, which now includes high performance fault tolerant IP650 network security appliances for heavier data throughput, and entry-level IP100 Series network security appliances for lower-level throughput. Nokia IP network security appliances combine the best-of-breed VPN-1®/FireWall-1® software solutions from Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP).Kenneth Saxskiold-Nørup, department manager for security & systems management at Maersk Data, says, "We have to protect our network for more than 500 locations across the world, so we have a fairly large network, and one of the largest privately-owned networks in the world," he adds that, "the Nokia appliances are easy to install and are very scalable, and we are still deploying them around our network."Nokia Corp.
