Foundry announces network-wide seven-layer security solutions with new SecureIron Series switches
June 27, 2005
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Foundry Networks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: FDRY - News), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced a comprehensive range of SecureIron security products and solutions to address the critical needs of Enterprise and Service Provider infrastructures for scalable network-wide security against emerging vulnerabilities and threats. The two solutions include comprehensive security management to simplify and centralize the control and monitoring of network wide security. The two new families of SecureIron products -- SecureIron Security Traffic Managers and SecureIronLS secure LAN switches -- deliver application-aware security protection at the network perimeter, internal network aggregation points, within the data center, and to directly-attached workstations and servers. SecureIron provides protection against a broad range of threats including network and application-layer attacks, DoS attacks, intrusions, viruses, worms, SPAM and Web-based attacks that threaten network-based service availability and performance.
The SecureIron Security Traffic Manager products are ideal for deployment as a front-end to existing firewalls at the network perimeter for unmatched protection against emerging threats and providing enhanced firewall performance by offloading NAT and protection against well-known DoS and network layer attacks. By offloading these traditional security functions, SecureIron delivers immediate investment protection and life extension to existing firewalls. The SecureIronLS secure LAN switch family extends multi-layer security to high-value desktops and critical servers in the data center. These switches are available in a choice of high density 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet port configurations supporting Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks.
"In light of the vital role that the network plays in the business environment and the growing number of attacks that threaten the integrity of these infrastructures, we see the necessity for a new approach to building a secure network," said Bobby Johnson, Foundry's Chairman and CEO. "The SecureIron Security Traffic Manager and SecureIronLS products leverage Foundry's industry leading expertise in switching, routing and application traffic management to deliver the industry's first scalable seven-layer security solutions that will redefine how enterprise and service provider organizations approach, implement, and manage network-wide security."
