Aricent announces Converged Access Solution (CAS) for enterprise and business gateways, demos Intelligent Switch software for Ethernet
October 10, 2007
BERLIN -- Aricent, the full-service, full-spectrum communications software company, today announced the immediate availability of the Aricent Converged Access Solution (CAS) for equipment manufacturers that need to rapidly develop high-functionality business and enterprise gateways.
The Aricent Converged Access Solution is a comprehensive software product providing Voice over IP services (SIP-based), virtual private networking and security, WiFi access, quality of service, LAN switching, IPv4 routing, WAN access and network management - all integrated into a single compact gateway solution. The Aricent software is modular, so a licensee can pick-and-choose the features they need for their product. Aricent CAS reduces product development time for infrastructure manufacturers because the software is already integrated, interoperability-tested and field-proven.
"The Aricent Converged Access Solution has been integrated and tested on a range of LSI Advanced PayloadPlus® network processors. Aricent CAS takes advantage of the APP architecture, with dedicated packet processing and control plane processors, to offer a world-class carrier-managed gateway solution," said Arun Kant, Vice President of Systems and Software Engineering for the Network & Storage Products Group at LSI. "These new capabilities allow service providers and enterprises to quickly and efficiently deliver advanced services such as mobile video, telepresence, VoIP, and data over current and next-generation networks."
Equipment manufacturers can use the Aricent Converged Access Solution to develop a diverse range of carrier-managed gateway products such as enterprise and business access gateways, residential gateways, cellular backhaul routers and switches, voice call continuity and fixed-mobile convergence offerings, or multi-service delivery systems. For licensees with limited resources, Aricent provides software development and customization services.
“The communications world is more complex than ever, and equipment manufacturers need to move quickly to remain competitive. The Aricent Converged Access Solution provides the software a manufacturer needs in order to deliver cutting-edge communication products for the enterprise, small business or residence,” said Sanjay Dhawan, executive vice president and chief strategy officer, Aricent. “We enable equipment manufacturers to offer innovative gateway products, reduce their development risks and cut time-to-revenue.”
In a separate release:
BERLIN -- Aricent, the full-service, full-spectrum communications software company, will demonstrate the Aricent Intelligent Switch Solution (ISS), a comprehensive software solution for developing carrier and metropolitan Ethernet switching products, at Broadband World Forum Europe 2007, in Berlin, Germany October 8 – 11.
The rapid pace of Web 2.0 expansion, particularly with the demands of video, creates ever-increasing traffic for network operators. So, short product development times are critical, because Ethernet switching market requirements can change by the time a product has gone from design to deployment.
“Today’s consumers expect outstanding performance from their computers, mobile phones and in-home systems. Successful broadband delivery demands a constant quest for speed: speed of throughput, speed of innovation and speed of implementation,” said Sanjay Dhawan, executive vice president and chief strategy officer, Aricent. “By licensing Aricent Intelligent Switching Solution, equipment manufacturers can deploy new, fast and innovative switching products to meet the demands of next-generation networks.”
