PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today added a new high-speed spectral loss measurement system to its test and measurement portfolio that provides a distinctive balance of speed and accuracy. This easy-to-set-up system will allow start-up manufacturers of passive optical components and subsystems to adopt an easy-to-set-up instrument for superior characterization of wavelength-dependent optical devices in both the R&D and manufacturing environments. The Agilent N4155A, optimized in speed and accuracy for the production of fiber-Bragg gratings (FBGs), thin film filters (TFFs) and other optical components based on these devices, blends an absolute wavelength accuracy of +/- 1 pm. In addition, the real-time sweep function of Agilent's Photonic Foundation Library included in the N4155A, combined with Agilent's fast power meters and the high-performance tunable laser, gives the most accurate results at the fastest speeds on the market. "The Agilent N4155A is an industry-leading test solution for high-speed measurement of spectral loss," said Werner Berkel, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Optical Communication Measurement Division. "Startups will benefit from the expertise and quality that comes with Agilent products. As in the past, we have developed this offering to help the industry reduce test cost and assets."
