LONDON -- Verimatrix, setting the standard in content security technologies that enhance the value of pay-TV networks, today announced that ON Telecoms has selected Verimatrix to secure the first IPTV service in Greece. Verimatrix's solution enables ON Telecoms to deliver Catch-up TV, nPVR, VoD and other On Demand services utilizing Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) to provide digital video content security throughout its digital video network.

ON Telecoms is an innovative telecommunications provider operating a metropolitan fiber network in the Athens area, on which advanced triple play services are delivered. Within the triple play offering, ON Telecoms' aim is to introduce next generation TV and video services, offering its customers a wide array of entertainment packages.

VCAS was designed from the ground up for two-way and hybrid networks. Cryptographic and e-commerce technologies proven on the Internet, including PKI and X.509 certificates, enable VCAS to offer a more sophisticated level of content protection than traditional smartcard-based systems. Devices and systems within media delivery networks are encrypted and authenticated in order to identify security breaches and unauthorized network users.

“Ensuring that our IPTV services are secure is critical in delivering a full feature personalized television experience to our subscribers,” said Ruggero Gramatica, CEO, ON Telecoms. “Verimatrix enhances the value of our network by offering the best access to content. Not only does Verimatrix provide a long-term vision of content security, it was easy and cost effective to integrate VCAS into our IPTV platform.”
