Sumitomo electric lightwave expands its cable product offerings with three new fiber types

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- Sumitomo Electric Lightwave, a leading manufacturer of fiber optic cable, fiber management, fusion splicers, air-blown fiber, and interconnect products for the telecommunications marketplace, announced today its plans to include three new Sumitomo fiber types to its existing single-mode, loose tube and ribbon cable product designs.The decision by Sumitomo Electric Lightwave to expand its optic cable product line coincides with the recent introduction by Sumitomo Electric Industries, LTD of its PureBand single-mode, PureMetro non-zero dispersion shifted single-mode, and PureGuide non-zero dispersion shifted single-mode fibers. The incorporation of the new fiber types will meet the foreseeable demand for enhanced-performance fiber in course wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM), dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM), and other high data rate applications."Our new cables, which will feature Sumitomo’s latest fiber innovations, are only the first of many optic cable enhancements we have planned for the near future in our constant effort to provide our customers with a competitive advantage,” comments Bill Beasley, director of marketing for Sumitomo's communication networks group.
