Sanmina-SCI and Umachines partner to produce MEMS optical networking modules

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Sanmina-SCI Corporation (Nasdaq: SANM), a leading electronics contract manufacturer, and Umachines, Inc., a developer of MEMS optical networking modules, announced today they have entered into a Technology Licensing and Manufacturing Services Agreement. Under the terms of this strategic partnership, Umachines will license to Sanmina-SCI certain technology for building quality MEMS and other optical networking modules. Sanmina-SCI will provide engineering and contract manufacturing support for Umachines' full line of optical switches, variable optical attenuators and other optical networking modules. Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Sundar Kamath, Senior Vice President, Global Technology Solutions at Sanmina-SCI, said, "Umachines has chosen to outsource their optical module manufacturing to Sanmina-SCI to leverage our extensive engineering and manufacturing technology experience with networking and telecommunications customers.
