ORLANDO, Fla. -- Nuonics, Inc. (www.nuonics.com) announced today that it has introduced its NU-FAST line of super-fast VOAs based on acousto-optic technology that includes the HDR and E models. The NU-FAST Model HDR VOA provides an exceptionally high > 65 dB continuous dynamic attenuation range at a very fast < 3 microsecond attenuation setting speeds. The NU-FAST„§ Model E VOA provides a super-fast <1.5 microsecond setting speed with an efficient > 20 dB attenuation range and < 1.5 dB loss. These NU-FAST series VOAs feature both fiber coupled and freespace models, high Watt level optical power handling, low <0.03 dB polarization dependence loss, and broadband operations. Nabeel Riza, Founder, President, & CEO of Nuonics states that ¡§ The NU-FAST„§ series of all-solid state VOAs provides for the first time, a superfast mechanism of accurately controlling light levels over a wide dynamic range. This capability is warranted for controlling fast transient effects and adaptive loops in emerging optical hardware in applications ranging from fiber-optic networking, test and instrumentation, and aerospace systems.¡¨

In a separate release:Nuonics, Inc. (www.nuonics.com) announced today that Nabeel Riza, CEO, President and Founder of Nuonics has been awarded the 2001 ICO Prize by the International Commission for Optics (ICO). The coveted ICO Prize awarded yearly is generally considered the top international honor for young optical innovators. ICO cites Dr. Riza for making a number of ground-breaking inventions including the innovative optical technology that is the basis for Nuonics paradigm shifting product line. See www.ico-optics.org/ico_jan02.html#Riza for official ICO citation.Nabeel Riza states that ¡§The ICO Prize indeed attests to the path breaking nature and tremendous potential of Nuonics optical networking technology for switching and attenuation applications.¡¨Nuonics Inc.
