INO is the first specialty fiber manufacturer to launch MM High Attenuation Fiber
November 11, 2002
QUEBEC CITY -- INO once more confirms its leading position as a specialty fiber manufacturer by being the first to launch MM High Attenuation Fiber (HAF). INO has developed a new patent pending manufacturing technique that results in multimode fibers with attenuation levels ranging from 0,05 to 5 dB/cm at 850 nm. The fiber is perfect for the fabrication of fixed-type attenuators within applications such as Gigabit Ethernet for FTTH or last mile access networks. The MM HAF is compatible with standard 50/125 um fiber installed in the local loop with a numerical aperture of 0.2. With ongoing development continuing for these fibers, the attenuation uniformity has been measured to be better than +/- 10 % over a 100 nm bandwidth. This fiber also offers unsurpassed stability, durability and reliability performances for applications requiring to attenuate MM fibers. INO
