PETAH TIKVA, ISRAEL -- ECI Telecom's (NASDAQ/NM symbol: ECIL) fully-owned subsidiary, InnoWave ECI Wireless Systems Ltd. ('InnoWave ECI'), announced today that it has acquired WinNet Metropolitan Communications Systems Inc., an emerging broadband wireless communications company, based in the Silicon Valley, California.
The new acquisition is an additional step by InnoWave ECI to position itself as a leader in the wireless local loop industry and to further enhance its penetration into the North America market. With the purchase of WinNet, InnoWave ECI will now offer a complete portfolio of wireless products that deliver broadband, wideband and narrowband end-to-end services and will incorporate LMDS solutions.
WinNet develops and markets broadband wireless products operating in the high frequency bands (20GHz - 38GHz), enabling up to 155Mbps data rates per subscriber. Supporting fast Internet services, IP and SONET transports, WinNet's wireless broadband solutions are particularly suitable for access, backhaul and metropolitan network backbone applications.
