Alcatel-Lucent helped British Telecom roll out BT Fusion, the operator's new fixed-mobile converged service. The service is based on Alcatel-Lucent's IMS solution, which allowed BT to reduce costs while developing next-generation services that end-users have been asking for.
The Alcatel-Lucent IMS solution enables agile service creation and end-to-end service control, allowing service providers to launch converged voice over IP and multimedia communication services such as push-to-talk, multimedia conferencing, presence-based communication, and other interactive applications with guaranteed quality of service. These new services are delivered across a range of access methods, including second- and third-generation wireless, xDSL, and wireless access such as LAN (WiFi) hotspots and WiMAX.
