MILPITAS, Calif. -- Blue Sky Research, a privately held developer and manufacturer of optical network components, today announced that Director of Product Engineering Dr. Daniel Chu has been promoted to Vice President of Product Line Management. Since joining the company in 1998, Dr. Chu has played a major role in the design and manufacture of Blue Sky's flagship Programmable ITU Laser technology. In his new role, Dr. Chu will continue to lead the development of the Programmable Laser, as well as two additional Blue Sky product lines, the EDFA Pump Module and Free-Space Laser Source.Dr. Chu's laser diode technology experience spans more than 10 years and includes product management and development with high-power laser structures, DBR and DFB lasers, tunable lasers and fiber optics. Dr. Chu holds two US patents in semiconductor micro-cavity lasers and is recognized throughout the industry for his laser technology achievements. "Dan's deep expertise with laser diode technology and exceptional product management skills have helped Blue Sky's Programmable ITU Laser set new performance standards among other tunable laser transmitters," said Dan Hu, president and CEO of Blue Sky Research.
