AUSTIN, TX--Broadwing Communications, a wholly owned subsidiary of Broadwing Inc. (NYSE:BRW), announced today that it is the first communications carrier to provide its customers 10-gigabit-per-second (Gbps) optical wavelength services as a standard offering.

This revolutionary offering, which Broadwing is ready to deliver to its customers now, gives large telecom companies with sophisticated routers access to pure 10 Gbps wavelengths, a standard service that only Broadwing is able to provide. As large carriers have begun recognizing the need for 10-gigabit-per-second wavelength access due to the tremendous bandwidth requirements of the Internet, router manufacturers have stepped up to the plate by offering technology advanced enough to handle this capacity. Broadwing is the only network provider with the DWDM network infrastructure that is ready and able to provide standard 10-gig wavelength access to meet customer demands.
