RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- Overture Networks, a leading developer of converged packet access platforms, today announced that Memphis Networx has completed its second year of successful Ethernet service deployments on the Overture Networks ISG 5000 multiservice switch.

Memphis Networx serves the Memphis area with a state of the art network that addresses the growing bandwidth problems and service issues facing most metropolitan areas. Memphis Networx chose the cost-efficient ISG 5000 with its modular architecture for its ability to scale the range of network uplink types required for a variety of customers, and for its compact but dense aggregation capabilities, required for saving costs in co-location facilities.

"Adding new customers on the fly is key to our ability to maintain maximum uptime," said Mark Ivie, CEO at Memphis Networx. "The Overture Networks ISG has allowed us to increase our response times for new deployments. We can add these customers quickly and without affecting services and SLAs in place for other customers. In addition, the cost of the platforms help us keep our capital expenditures to a minimum as we grow our customer base."

The ISG 5000, a 4-slot chassis, also provides Memphis Networx with the ability to light dark fiber in a variety of ways, including 10/100 Ethernet, 100Base-FX, Gigabit Ethernet, OC-3 and OC-12. "Memphis Networx is another great example of a provider taking advantage of their own fiber plant and the flexibility of the ISG family to gain a competitive edge over other service providers offering Ethernet services, " said Chip Redden, vice president of marketing and product management for Overture Networks. "The versatile nature of the ISG 5000 hardware means Memphis Networx can tailor their dark fiber to customer needs. In addition, the rich service offerings on the ISG allow Memphis to offer a wide variety of Ethernet services to their ever-expanding customer base."
