BellSouth targets growing Hispanic online community with Spanish-language Internet portal

ATLANTA -- BellSouth (NYSE: BLS - News) today announced the availability of a complete Internet customer experience targeted at the growing Hispanic community in the U.S. According to eMarketer, the world's leading provider of Internet statistics, more than 11 million Hispanic Americans are surfing the Internet. BellSouth is introducing a Spanish language home page (www.miportal.bellsouth.net) offering comprehensive news, information and entertainment. In addition, BellSouth® FastAccess® DSL Internet Service offers a Spanish language instruction guide for its self-installation kits as well as Spanish-speaking sales staff and customer service. "With more than 42.5 million people of Hispanic descent in the United States, representing nearly 15 percent of the entire population, it's important for us to provide this valuable audience with the choice of receiving BellSouth's high-quality services either in English or Spanish," said Tim Hill, director of Portal Services for BellSouth.
